    Dear team,

I am incurring an issue with woocommerce, i have a variable product on my website of which there is one version out of stock, the other version is in stock. However website visitors are not able to purchase it and this respective product page acts weird.

Can someone help me resolve this issue? If you need any more information, let me know.

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,
    Timo Paulissen

  • Hey there, @timopaulissen! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

Can you please share the link of the product so we can take a look?

Is this happening with only one product or all variable products?

Can you please share screenshots of how the variable product is set up?
I recommend using https://snipboard.io. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

Was this product added via the default WooCommerce interface or do you have any plugins/custom code that modify it?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Dear @carolm29, Thankyou for replying!

this is the link of the specific page: https://power-nutrition.nl/product/clear-whey-isolate/

Regarding the question if this happens with all variable products, i don’t know. I have never experienced it before, because normally products don’t run out of stock

Here are the 2 screenshots of how the different(2) variable product is set up: https://snipboard.io/urXw1b.jpg
    https://snipboard.io/r1owFI.jpg

I have not set it up myself but i don’t think a plugin was used for that, so i think just via woocommerce.

FOR YOUR INFO: I have already tried disabling the managing stock? option, the current stock is noted down so i could do it. I looked around for support and reckon i’d try that, but it did not solve the issue.

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Hope you can help me further

    -Timo

    Hey, @timopaulissen!

    Thanks for the information!

I’m trying to check the error on your website so we can get a better understanding of it, but I was not able to do it.

Do you mind sharing the specific steps you follow to trigger the issue?
If you can share screenshots of this too that would be great.
If you prefer you can record a video with https://loom.com/

I checked the link you shared, but there are a lot of product options there, when I click on the options it takes me to a different product page. And I was not able to find the ones with the names on the screenshots you shared.

I tried some of the options on the page, but they seemed to be working correctly. So it would be great if you can share how to replicate the issue so we can take a look and investigate this further!

    Thank you!

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hello timopaulissen,

    Thank you for your reply.

I checked both pages that you have shown in the video.
After inspecting the HTML of the pages I noticed that the product “Clear Whey Isolate” has some extra HTML for <li> tags that are not present on the “Whey Protein” product page.

These <li> tags are breaking the page layout and creating a problem.
The layout of the page is determined by the theme or the page builder plugin like Elementor.

I suggest you look into your theme and the Elementor plugin and check what is adding these extra <li> tags to the “Clear Whey Isolate” product page.

You may also try switching to a different theme and see what difference it makes for the affected product page.

    Below are the screenshots:

Let me know about your findings. ??

    Best regards.

    Hi Timo @timopaulissen,

To avoid messing up your design, you can create a staging site by following these steps. This will help you make the necessary test without having to affect your live site.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi @ckadenge Thanks for your reply,

I have a staging website already, only thing is that it has not been updated in a while so it does not feature the all the new products on the main site etc. Do you know how i can update that?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,

    Hello ?? @timopaulissen,

Do you know how i can update that?

I’d recommend creating a new one with the help of a plugin, as recommended here. This is because our support scope only focuses on the WooCommerce core plugin.

I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this gets you going.

    Hello @ckadenge ,

I have managed to make a staging site finally, all products are in stock now, so the issue is currently now occuring.
BUT obviously, i’d like it to not occur again in the future.

Can you help me accomplish this?

    Kind regards,
    Timo Paulissen

    Hey, @timopaulissen!

To know how to avoid the issue from happening again, we need to figure out what was causing it.

I have managed to make a staging site finally, all products are in stock now, so the issue is currently now occuring.

To confirm, do you mean it is not happening on the Staging site or on the live site?

Have you made any changes to the site since the issue started? It could be updating plugins or the theme, adding or removing plugins or custom code, etc.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi @carolm29 ,

that was a typo, I meant that the issue is currently NOT occuring, since all products are back in stock again.

I have not made any updates to the website, since the issue occurred.

The staging site is a direct copy of the normal site as it was yesterday.

Hope this clarifies it a bit for you.

    You too!

    Hey, @timopaulissen!

    Thanks for clarifying ??

Can you please use the staging site to try and replicate the issue?
If you can replicate the issue there, please try switching to the Storefront theme to see if the issue persists.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi @carolm29 ,

I tried to replicate the issue by putting the stock of 1 product variation to 0, however this did not replicate the issue.

Any ideas about what i can do now to make sure this issue does not occur in the future?

    Have a good day!

    Kind regards,

    Hello timopaulissen,

    Thank you for your reply.

At the moment, we do not have sufficient information to determine what caused the issue and how to prevent it from happening again.

It appears the issue is related to the theme and not to the WooCommerce.
According to the forum guidelines, this forum is intended for support related to WooCommerce issues.
Therefore, themes related to issues are out of our scope.

The best way forward would be to consult a professional web developer who look into your theme and other site settings. This way you can find out if there is anything wrong with the theme or the site settings. You can find good web developers at WooExperts and Codeable.

Let me know if you have any questions. ??

    Best regards.
