I have disabled all plug ins, then enabled Classic Editor (which is normally a godsend) and it disables the save button, so I am unable to save content new or amended. Tried this twice, same result.

I am reluctant to play about with the theme as it is a modified Astra one, but I really need to be back up and running again.

On another site, presumably on the same shared server, everything is fine.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Everything is up to date BTW.

UPDATE – posted in ASE too.

Is there anything in ASE which could disable the SAVE button?

The issue seems to be between ASE and Classic Editor somewhere.

I have done all the other tests!

Hi @stevepett, I’ve tested this and only had the Classic Editor plugin active. The Save button in pages and posts always remained.
I also see your message in the ASE plugin forum and glad to hear that the Save button has reappeared on your site. I’ll mark this topic resolved.

I re-enable Classic Editor (as it was an UTTER NIGHTMARE without it.

Save button gone again. De-activated ASE – no change. De activated my beloved Classic Editor and save button returned. I had previously turned everything else off, but haven’t found a clash. though that probably is the issue in reality or everyone would be having the problem.

    it disables the save button

I’m sorry but which save button do you mean? The Save Draft/Post button in the Publish box on the old edit post screen as shown in this screenshot, or a different one?

or everyone would be having the problem

Right, seems it may be something specific, haven’t heard of similar problems lately.

Yes, it turns into a save button once the post/page has been published,

Yes, it turns into a save button..

Right. Frankly this problem is not caused by the Classic Editor plugin. It only enables the old Edit Post screen, doesn’t modify anything on it.

My guess is that another plugin was either installed or updated recently and has started to interfere with that button. Can you think what may have changed shortly before the time you noticed the button is missing? Then maybe try disabling the plugin that was installed or updated and refresh the screes few times (hold Shift and reload the page) to see if anything changes.

There is an alternative way to try to debug this by looking at the browser console, finding the CSS that’s hiding the button (assuming it is hidden with CSS) and figuring out where it comes from. That’s quite more complicated though.

Beyond me I am afraid, I will just have to try to work with blocks ??

In Classic Editor close the right-hand sidebar with the X. Then you can see the Save button.
