When Enable Media Replace is active, media files are not renamed when the media title is changed and the attachment is saved. When it’s inactive, this happens as it should.

    Hi Gal,

I just installed on a test server the two plugins, Enable Media Replace and Media File Renamer. Then I enabled the Rename Field on Media File Renamer settings. And finally I changed the filename of an image.

Everything worked as it should, the file was renamed correctly. Most probably there is a conflict with another plugin, so I recommend you to deactivate all plugins except these two to verify this. And if the issue still happens then, if you could provide us a step by step about how to reproduce the issue, that’d be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hi Gerard,

Just to confirm, you don’t change the filename directly.

Configure the renamer so that Basic/Auto is Based on Media Title, and On Upload all set to None.

Then, upload a new image, edit it and change its TITLE (not its filename).

When you save, the filename should match the new title, NOT the original upload filename.

    Cheers,
    Gal

    Thank you Gal,

I did just as you told me, but even with Enable Media Replace deactivated I am not getting the filename renamed. I’m not sure if I’m following the same steps as you, so could you please send us:

    1. Screenshots of the Media File Renamer settings (all screens).
    2. A screen recording showing how you reproduce the issue.

    Thank you!

While trying to record, I realised that the filename isn’t changed on the first save, but is changed if I just click “Update” again, with or without other media-related plugins being active.
