    Can the author sitemap be disabled by default? It gives hackers a clear list of usernames on the site. That seems incredibly dangerous.

    Yes, you can disable the author sitemap.

    Kindly head to WordPress dashboard > Yoast SEO Settings > Advanced > Author archives and disable the toggle button for Enable author archives. Save the settings.

    Yes, I know it can be disabled. I’m asking for it to be disabled by default rather than having to change this setting on dozens of websites. It just feels like an unnecessary security risk.

    No, we do not have a feature that disabled this by default. But you or your developer are free to customize the plugin to suit your needs.
