Hi all,

I have placed several posts behind the login, and now each one displays the message “Login required to view this page. Please Login. (with the log in page link).

Also, if I look at all posts in a category, each one shows the title and then this text: “Login required to view this page. Please Login.” But without the log in page link.

I want to customize these messages. Where in ProfileGrid can I edit these two messages?

Your help is much appreciated!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hello @commontater,

You may translate the strings using “Loco Translate” plugin. ProfileGrid has a POT file that includes all English text from the plugin for translation.

Please read this article for more details: https://profilegrid.co/how-to-translate-profilegrid-to-your-language/

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello @profilegrid0 ,

I looked at the link you provided for translating ProfileGrid.

I am not translating the text from English into another language, and I do not intend to submit my edited text to ProfileGrid development to be included in their translations.

Example:

Original Message: “Login required to view this page. Please Login.”

Desired Message: “The page you’re looking for is for members. To access this page, please log in (link). Not a member? Join today (link).

As you can see, I am still using English, but making the message more specific.

How can I change the text of the messages without submitting the changes to WordPress development?

Many thanks!

Hello @commontater,

You are not required to submit message changes to WordPress. Instead, you can add string translations to your site using the “Loco Translate” plugin.

Please follow these instructions:

1. Install and Activate the Loco Translate Plugin.
2. Navigate to Plugin Pages: Click on “Plugin Pages” in the left menu bar of the Loco Translate plugin.
3. Select the ProfileGrid Plugin: Click the “ProfileGrid Plugin” link on the Plugins Page.
4. Choose Your WordPress Language: Select the WordPress language into which you wish to translate the files.
5. Add Your Translations: Enter your translations as needed.

I hope this helps! If you encounter any issues, please reach out to us directly using this form, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Hi @profilegrid0 ,

The site is in English. The target language would also be English.

1. Can I go from English to English? That is, choose English as the language to “translate” into?
2. If I implement English to English, does it wipe out the original text in ProfileGrid, or does that info remain?
3. When I update ProfileGrid, do my translations remain in place? (I assume this is true, but thought I should ask.)

Thanks!

Hello @commontater,

You can choose the English language variant, such as English UK, English Canada, or English United States, and configure the same language on your site through “Settings >> General” in the dashboard.

Creating a new file will not overwrite the original text in the plugin.

To ensure your translations are preserved during updates, save them in a separate location when creating the translation file.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi @profilegrid0 ,

Thanks for the instructions.

This does seem a bit clunky, though.

It would be great if ProfileGrid had its own mechanism for customizing these messages without the workaround of EnglishUS/EnglishUK.

Overall, a good plugin so far. ??
