    I have just started adding products to my woo commerce shop. I added two products, one from ‘the clays’ category and one from ‘everything else’ category. Both, when previewed do not show on the ‘shop’ page I created on kadence. ( they seem to have created pages for themselves.) Likewise on the ‘clays’ and the ‘everything else’ category heading I created they do not show the products.

    (I have created two separate pages that are ‘the clays’ and ‘everything else’ and I have produced kadence pages to illustrate these two categories not associated with the shop yet – I will link once I have populated the site)

    I have run out of ideas having gone as far as deleting and re-activating woo commerce in the hope of correcting this. You recommending deleting other plug ins but I can’t delete Kadence as that is the theme for my whole site

    Thank you for reaching out.

    I understand you’re having trouble displaying your products on the respective category pages.

    As a first step, please ensure your ‘Shop’ page is set as the default WooCommerce shop page. You can do this by navigating to WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Display. Under the ‘Shop Page’ dropdown, select your ‘Shop’ page.

    Secondly, I understand you’re not comfortable deactivating the Kadence theme, however, in most cases, the theme is responsible for how the site displays products, therefore, on a staging site, please switch to a default theme like Storefront and check if the issue persists. This way, you’d be able to rule out any possible conflicts with your theme.

    Please try this and let us know how it goes.

    Thank you for your swift reply – although it was in the middle of the night for me! (UK)

    I think I am in over my head! I have checked that the shop page is set to default woo-commerce shop page so that is not the problem. I have connected to jetpack as a backup. I have downloaded ‘storefront’ onto my desk top. However I do not have access to my host currently so can’t create a staging site.

    If I add ‘storefront’ to my site will that conflict with’ ‘kadence’? If I am to add it, how do I do that?

    I wanted to add another link (but see I can’t) showing the current ‘breadcrumbs’ when I preview a product. The Breadcrumb is: home/shop/everything else/accessories/atomiser spray bottle but what I want is shop/accessories/atomiser spray bottle (accessories being the category)

    I hope you can give me further advice

    shop page is set to default woo-commerce shop page so that is not the problem.

    Thank you for confirming this for us.

    However I do not have access to my host currently so can’t create a staging site.

    You can use a plugin like WP STAGING to create a staging site. All you need to do is have the plugin installed then simply navigate to your WordPress dashboard, then go to?WP Staging → Staging Sites.?Next, click on?Create New Staging Site.

    These are both themes, and you can only have one active theme on your site at a time. If you switch to ‘Storefront’, it won’t conflict with ‘Kadence’, but it will replace it. To add ‘Storefront’, navigate to your WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Themes > Add New. Search for ‘Storefront’, install and activate it. Please remember that switching themes can change the look and layout of your site, so it’s recommended to make this change on a staging site to avoid changing the look/design of your current store.

    Could you please clarify where you were unable to add another link? Was it in this forum or in your site?

    You can modify the breadcrumb trail with the help of a plugin like this one.

    Please note that these changes should ideally be made in a staging or development environment to avoid any disruptions to your live site.

    This is all mind blowing for my 82 year old mind that is new to wordpress! I have installed a staging site and ‘storefront’ and sadly am getting the same result.

    When I said ‘I can’t add another link’ I meant to this forum request for help. With my initial request I was able to send you a link. I have assumed that it is not appropriate to send it to you in this text that I am writing in this public message.

    What has happened is that when I type in ‘shop’ from the menu, it tells me that there are no products showing. If I open up the ‘shop’ page in the list of pages I have it shows no products. On the page where the products DO show the breadcrumb is Home/everything else/accessories/atomiser spray bottle. This shows that it has not included ‘shop’ in this list (should be after ‘home’ – so that link is missing. ‘Everything else’ is the prime category with ‘accessories’ being secondary .

    I have another prime category called ‘the clays’ with secondary lists of the makes of clay. the breadcrumb for the one product I have entered on this category is home/the clays/cernit clay – again ‘shop’ is missing

    Could you edit those products and check the Catalog Visibility settings?

    Make sure it is set to “Shop and search results”.

    On ‘catalog visibility setting it is already set to ‘shop and search results’ on both of the products I have listed.

    Overnight I think I have cracked it! I don’t know what I did differently but it is now working as it should. The two primary categories are appearing on the shop page and they are linking to the products.

    I am sincerely grateful for all your help and all the resulting learning I have achieved as a result!
