Hello, I noticed something weird in the new Customizer setup, wondering if it’s intentional or not. In one of the recent updates, I noticed that there are now two different versions of the footer layout available, desktop and mobile (similar to the header – didn’t use to be like this).

In the desktop footer, I get an option to include the Footer Menu widget somewhere. However, in the mobile footer, the option to insert the Footer Menu is not available… I only get Footer Widget Areas 1-4. Is this intentional? Why is the Footer Menu only available in desktop?

    Thanks in advance…

  • Hi @sarahsas,

Thank you for using Neve and for reaching out to us!

I’ve tested this on a fresh instance with only Neve installed and was able to see the Footer Menu widget on mobile. Could you please provide more details about the issue you’re experiencing? Any screenshots would be very helpful for us to better understand and identify the problem.

Please note that if you already have the Footer Menu added in the Mobile menu, it won’t appear to be added again.

    Best regards,

    Mara

Hi @mara3 hmmm how strange! Here is a screen recording showing the issue, this site is brand new in development, I haven’t even added any content to the pages yet, I’ve only started building the header and footer so far, so I feel a plugin conflict is unlikely?

Notice in desktop mode I’ve got placement for 4 footer widget areas PLUS the footer menu. When I switch to mobile, it shows the 4 footer widget areas and then I go to add the final one and it says there are no more available, even though I haven’t placed the footer MENU yet.

This is the site in development on the front end, for your reference: https://ausdance.saranyadesigns.com/

    Let me know your thoughts?

    Hey @sarahsas,

Thank you for getting back to us!

We are sorry for the inconvenience, but unfortunately, we were not able to reproduce the issue. Could you please share what version of PHP and WordPress are you using since this may be a specific issue that arises from specific instances?

    Kind regards,

    Mara

Hi @mara3 , hmmmm strange. Maybe I should note that I AM using a newly configured Neve child theme, could that have something to do with it? However, even when I switch back to the parent theme, the issue still persists. The wordpress version is 6.6.1 and the server is running PHP 8.2.21. Let me know if you need any additional info? I’m also happy to provide you admin access, since the site is brand new in dev, there’s not much of it built yet.

    Hi @sarahsas,

Thank you for offering us details about the issue and for your patience!

The delay was caused by the problem appearing only on a type of WordPress instance and not on all of them. However, I was able to replicate the behaviour and I have forwarded it to the development team for review. Until they decide what is to be done next, you can follow the progress here.

    What happens next?

Our product team will evaluate the impact of this issue compared to other open bugs and upcoming features, and assign a priority level to the bug report.

Our developers prioritize the highest-priority issues first, so we cannot provide a specific timeline for resolution.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

    Best regards,

    Mara

Hi @mara3 thanks for investigating further, how strange. For reference, I am using a bitnami lightsail instance on AWS hosting. But I have several other sites also configured on this hosting where this issue is NOT occurring. It is only occurring on this one instance. I too am having trouble replicating it. The only thing I can find that’s different is that I’m using a child theme this time, but as I mentioned, the issue is also occurring when I switch to the parent NEVE theme.

Thanks for lodging it with the product team anyway! I will keep an eye on the github thread.

    Hi @sarahsas,

Thank you for the additional details!

The child theme does not cause the issue since it’s replicable even if no child theme is set up, in those instances. We will update you when the development team decides what needs to be done next!

    Best regards,

    Mara
