how to change the mailpoet-generated thumb size 1320×0 px

  • Hi there,

    I noticed that mailpoet has created an own thumbnail image size (as shown by e.g. plugin Regenerate Thumbnails): mailpoet_newsletter_max:?1320×0 Pixel?

    As I strive to reduce the number of different thumbnail sizes in order to keep the size of the file system small (I only have a small plan with my hoster and cannot afford a larger one), I wonder:

    What is the purpose of this image size / where are these images used? Obviously NOT in the notifications emails about new blog posts (I have checked this, the images in the emails have 1024px image size which is my wordpress setting for the large image size)

    How / where can I change the size for mailpoet_newsletter_max?to 1024×0 Pixel, so it uses an already existing image size and does not create an extra image size?

    Hi there @dillhausen,

    I understand that space is at a premium. However, this size is a requirement for MailPoet to correctly format outgoing emails in our email editor. It uses a width of 1320px (this cannot be changed at the moment) and so requires images to fit this width so that they can be properly rendered and displayed with the correct ratio in the designer and in the delivered emails.

    While we hope to add more versatility to the email designer in the future, at the moment this is a strict requirement of using MailPoet. Removing these sizes would likely result in unexpected fatal errors when attempting to use the MailPoet email designer.

    If you have images that go out in your newsletter but are not used on your site, you could consider hosting them offsite, such as in a Google Drive or Dropbox account. These can be included and embedded as external images in your newsletter, however, can be harder to format and appear properly in all mail browsers, especially if columns are involved. However, it could help alleviate your space issue.
