Plugin makes it impossible to view large orders

    When I click an order in the list of orders I get a blank page and a 503 in the console.
    This only happens when the Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin is active. As soon as I deactivate the plugin it works fine again.

    To Reproduce
    Create an order with something like 35 items in it
    Click on orders
    Click the order with the 35 items in it.

    Expected behavior
    I should be able to view the order.

    I have added a ticket on the github page, but I have had no response what so ever for over a month. The issue has rendered the plugin unusable for many months.

    @alijens can you please look at your “fatal logs” in WooCommmerce to see if anything is showing up? I would be surprised if this isn’t an “out ot memory” error. What is your current PHP memory limit set to? We’ll be glad to help you through this, obviously that’s not the desired functionality of the plugin and I’m sure we can help resolve it for you with a little effort.

    I did  
    php -i | grep “memory_limit”
    and I get

    memory_limit => 8589934592 => 8589934592
    which should be about 8GB. It is on a server hosted at one.com. and the amount of memory is not something we can change.

    I was in contact with your chatt support about this issue earlier today and they have started to look?into it. I tried to email a video of the problem to them, but your mailsystem rejects the emails. I have tried sending the file both zipped and unzipped.

    Oh yeah 8GB is PLENTY… what about the PHP memory limit shown on your wordpress system report though?

    Thanks, that memory limit seems very good, so I would be surprised if it’s hitting that limit. Do you happen to have any fatal logs indicating an issue that might be of help here?

    There is also mailchimp_woocommerce in the list of loggs but it contains nothing.

    The errors in the log points to

    and I guess the $key should not be null since @param string $key Order key. says it should be a string and null is not a string.

    PHP versions are getting more strict. This seems like a logic bug in that code that should at minimum cast that key to a string:

    return hash_equals( $this->get_order_key(), (string) $key );

    Seems like a woocommerce issue, but you said when you deactivate the Mailchimp plugin, you don’t see this happen?

    I know we’ve treaded pretty lightly when it comes to php versions above 7. There’s a lot of code out in the wild that will most certainly break with the strict usage it requires.

    As a quick hack you can of course try what I recommended but who knows what else would break next. This is just where the logic was broken first.

    It only happens when I have the plugin active. Could it be that you somewhere call that function or another function that then calls that function and the key is not passed along or is set to null instead of a string. The function expects a key in the format of a string and gets null, which could be a bad function call where the key is not included in a place where it should be. It is not uncommon that an error is triggered somewhere and then reported as occurring in a woocommerce file, simply because one has missed error handling to detect the problem before the code reashes the woocommerce file. I have seen this when I have coded things.

    It is also strange that it only happens when an order has something like 30+ products, but works fine when an order has less products.

    But I don’t see anything that would explain the 503 that I get. It is the complete debug.log file after I have reproduced the problem.

    Our server is hosted at one.com and I have contacted them to see if they have another server log or something that can explain why it happens. They said they will investigate and get back to me. I hope they have a better log than the debug.log that I have access to since I did not see a problem in it, which is a bit strange since I believe that I normaly would get something log in it when a 503 occurs. I told them that you would like a full stack trace and maybe they can give me that.

    Hi,

    This is still an issue. I have updated wordpress to 6.6.2 and your plugin to 4.4. I still get 503 when I try to view an order with many products in it.
