Thumbnails Not Generating

    Hello,

    For some reason, my woocommerce store is not generating thumbnails of the product. So for the new order emails sent to both admin and customer, the product image is blank. Also if i share link of a product to customer on social media sites likes instagram, it doesn’t show thumbnail of product instead says “Just a Moment” but thumbnail doesnt show. What should I do?

    Thank you for reaching out.

    I understand you’re having trouble with thumbnails not generating for your products.

    To have a better understanding, are you able to confirm if you’re using any image compressing plugins in your setup?

    As a first step, I’d recommend regenerating your thumbnails (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/) to ensure you have the registered size images for your products.

    Thanks for the reply. I have Breeze and Object Cache Pro plugins for caching. I am not sure if either of 2 would compress images. I tried the image regeneration plugin but since i have thousands of products and therefore images, it fails after 5 to 7% regeneration

    Hi @mayank29gupta,

    Breeze and Object Cache Pro plugins you’re using are primarily for caching, not for image compression. While these plugins help to improve the performance of your site, they won’t directly reduce the file size of your images.

    I tried the image regeneration plugin but since i have thousands of products and therefore images, it fails after 5 to 7% regeneration

    I understand the recommended plugin failed at 7%. Can you try regenerating the images with this plugin and see if this makes any difference? Please be sure to back up your site before installing any plugin. Also, you can try out the compressions on a staging site to avoid messing your live site.

    Moreover, please note that the recommended plugins are third-party plugins and we do not offer support for the said plugins.

    I couldn’t find the option to regenerate thumbnails in the plugin you mentioned in last reply. I also forgot to mention that thumbnails are also not generating for any new products that I am creating.

    Also I tried using Force Regenerate Thumbnails Plugin. While it claimed to have regenerated some thumbnails, when I tried sharing link, the thumbnail didnt generate.

    To help you further, I’d like to understand more about your setup.

    Could you share link of the pages where you see the broken images?

    Additionally, send me a copy of your site’s System Status Report.
    You can find it via WooCommerce > Status.
    Select Get system report and then Copy for support.

    Once you’ve done that, click the blue button with the + sign and choose Code block to paste it here in your reply.

    I see your database is outdated. This can cause a lot of issues on the website.

    Please update it by either following the warning message a the top of the page on WooCommerce area of the dashboard or going to WooCommerce > Status > Tools > Update Database.

    Be sure you have a good backup in place of your full site and database. You can ask your host for backup functionality or you can consider using a service like Jetpack. If something goes wrong, you will be able to restore it.

    Please check if the issue persists after updating it and let us know ??

    The broken thumbnails are on new orders emails that are sent. Also if I share link of the product on my social media accounts like in dm of Instagram, it doesn’t show thumbnail.

    Could you share the URL of the images embedded in the email?
    I want to review the URL generated by the WordPress.

    Please note that managing social media thumbnails is a different topic.
    Let’s first address the broken thumbnails in the email and then we will get back to social media.

    Thanks for the link, I see it returns a 404 error.

    I was checking my website, and noticed that the default email template does not show the images of the products.

    I checked both the email the store admin gets and the one the customer gets:

    All those variations have images, and they are not shown on the email, as you can see on the screenshot.

    Have you modified the email templates?

    If not, one of the plugins you are using is probably adding the images to the templates, do you know which one?

    I didn’t edit the code, instead used Kadence WooCommerce Email Designer Plugin which added the images to the emails. I contacted the plugin also with issue and they said that issue is with thumbnails and not from their side. This plugin was also not updated around the time when issue started.

    Sometimes, when Woo updates, it can add changes that cause conflicts with other plugins that are not compatible with the new version. But even if Woo was the plugin that updated, the third-party plugins that need to keep their plugin updated to be compatible with Woo, not the other way around.

    Hello @carolm29 I am not sure why its loading like this for you. I tried multiple devices and browsers and its loading fine for me. Only change I made was to change thumbnail size from 1.1 ratio to 2.1
