I updated to wp 6.6.1 on my blog site, and ever since, I can’t add new posts. It says, “I am probably offline” and simply won’t work. But I am online and something seems to be broken. Any suggestions appreciated……….Dennis

  • Hi @spiritualcharlesdarwin,

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue.

It says, “I am probably offline” and simply won’t work.

It looks like you installed a new SSL certificate two weeks back. Most probably that’s causing the issue. Let’s try a simple fix. I will guide you on what have to do.

At first, you have to log in to the WordPress Dashboard. Then access Settings > General. You can see the ‘WordPress Address (URL)’ and ‘Site Address (URL)’ options on the General Settings Page. I am assuming that the site URL you gave there starts with ‘http’. You have to change it to ‘https’. If you have implemented what I have said correctly, you can see how your final output will be if you look at the screenshot given below.

Let me know how it goes. Awaiting your response if you need any further help.

    Warm regards,

Thanks for the info! That seems to work. I have one question. You say, “WordPress Address (URL)’ and ‘Site Address (URL)” And I changed the Site address but not the wordpress address. It works with just the one change, but I wonder if it is necessary to change the wp address too???

    Hi @spiritualcharlesdarwin,

I’m glad to know you achieved it. I will briefly explain the difference between a WordPress Address (URL) and a Site Address (URL). It might sound like both are the same, but they’re not.

WordPress Address (URL) is the location of your core WordPress files. In your case, the file is installed on your root. Sometimes people may prefer a subfolder to install WordPress. Site Address (URL) is the site’s public URL, which visitors use to access the website. So, it’s best to change the ‘Site Address’ too to ‘https’. Otherwise, the visitors might go to the unsecured version (HTTP) of your website. It will create a mess in the whole website setup.

Hope you got it. Let me know if you need any further help.

    Thank You,
    Muhammed Jazeel
