Cannot select checkbox next to “feaured image” or “pagenation”

I was recently making some colour scheme changes to a client website. I simply created a staging site to do this, I will then migrate it all to the live site. One thing that needed changing was the colour of the testimonials. When I do this and click save I loose featured images and pagination on the testimonials page (using a view). When I attempt to edit the view I have check boxes for pagination and featured images but they cannot be checked?
