Woocommerce incorrectly says child theme woofiles out of date
-
I already replaced these files in the child theme with the new ones from the Woocommerce plugin, but the message refuses to update or go away. How do I get it to see the files are updated?
-
Hello @starhorsepax2 you might want to try clearing your server cache if you feel your files in the child theme are up to date. Not all authors update them regularly. So check your cache on the server level and your own browser.
Thank you for reaching out.
I understand you’re experiencing issues with updating your child theme files. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this:
- Your server or browser might be showing an older version of your site. Clearing the cache can help to refresh it.
- Deactivate and reactivate the child theme: Sometimes, deactivating and then reactivating the child theme can help the system recognize the changes.
- Update the WooCommerce plugin: Ensure that your WooCommerce plugin is updated to the latest version.
If the issue persists, please provide us with more details about the error message you’re receiving, and we’ll be glad to assist you further.
It’s not even an error message. It just insists it has old template files. Even after all cache is cleared server side. I’m not sure I can deactivate it, this is a live site.

Does the message affect any functionalities in your store?
To test this issue further, you can create a staging site then remove the child theme from the staging site to see if the error message persists. Here are the steps on how to create a staging site.
We already have a staging. The thing is, it’s both deceptive and confusing for it to say the child theme templates are out of date when it is not. I keep going to replace them only to realize I’ve already done it.

Finally, do you find any errors on your site or in the?WooCommerce Logs, or is something not working properly on your site due to outdated templates? Have you reached out to your theme developer to ask?if they can update the theme to be compatible with the latest version of WooCommerce?
Thanks!
-OPOk. Here they are. So far as I know, this theme has always been compatible with Woocommerce. We use it on many sites.

That is the entire point of the post. I had ALREADY UPDATED everything! It should already be showing as fixed!!!
Hey @starhorsepax2 ,
Can you try deactivating and reactivating WooCommerce and see if this does the trick? If that doesn’t work, you can try forcing a refresh by navigating to?WooCommerce → Status → Tools, and selecting the following:
- WooCommerce transients –
Clear transients
- Expired transients –
Clear transients
- Clear template cache –

That did absolutely nothing.
Hi @starhorsepax2,
While we’re unsure why this is happening to you, let’s try some different steps to see if this issue persists.
Kindly back up your site or create a staging site, then install the WP Rollback plugin and rollback your WooCommerce version to a different version that was working before the issue started and check if this helps make any difference.
Please let us know how it goes.
We haven’t tested this, as we’ve been moving to a new server and had to delete staging entirely to do it. Unfortunately, I don’t know which version it started with.
