Hello WooCommerce Team,

I hope you are doing well. I am experiencing an issue with pagination in my product category on WooCommerce. When I try to navigate to subsequent pages within a category, I get a 404 error.

Details of the Issue:

• Example Category: Halloween (this is just an example)
• Problem: When trying to move from page 1 to page 2 or 3 of the above category, the page returns a 404 error. Other pages are not loading correctly, and the problem seems to be affecting only the category pagination.

I have already tried regenerating the permalinks and temporarily deactivating plugins, but the issue persists. Additionally, I have verified that the theme and all plugins are updated to the latest version.

I would appreciate any assistance you can provide to resolve this issue.

Thank you in advance for your support!

I also renamed the .htaccess file to .htaccess_old and regenerated the permalinks. I contacted SiteGround support, my hosting provider, and they confirmed that it is not a server-side issue.

Hi @gabriele1454,

Thank you for reaching out.

I understand you’re experiencing issues with pagination within your product category, specifically receiving a 404 error when trying to navigate to subsequent pages.

It seems like you’ve covered a lot of the usual troubleshooting procedures. However, there are still a few more things we can try.

First, I’d recommend switching to a default theme like Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Four to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, themes can interfere with WooCommerce’s functionality.

Should the issue persist, you can try re-installing WooCommerce to see if the issue still persists. Please be sure to have a backup in place before trying any of the suggested steps.

Looking forward to assisting you further.

Thank you for your response. I used the Twenty-Fourteen theme and reinstalled WooCommerce, but I am still having this issue. I don’t know how to resolve it anymore, please help me.

Hi @gabriele1454,

Could you please share a full-page screenshot of how your permalinks are set? This way, we’ll have a better understanding on this issue.

You can use a platform like https://snipboard.io/ to share screenshots here.

Looking forward to your reply.

I discovered the issue: the first page link uses “categoria-prodotto” in Italian, but the second page doesn’t work with this Italian term. I need to manually change the link to “product-category” in English for the second page to work. How can I fix this problem?

Hey @gabriele1454 – that’s a good find! When looking at https://sabrielecommerce.com/product-category/festivita/halloween/, the pagination is working as expected. In contrast, when using using https://sabrielecommerce.com/categoria-prodotto/festivita/halloween/.

Are you using a 3rd party plugin to manage your translations? Are you seeing any options in its settings to adjust that? I’m asking as that’s not something that that core WooCommerce plugin would cover in its options.

I use TranslatePress for translations, but even if I try to disable it, it still doesn’t work. I don’t understand how to solve it, but we’re already one step ahead by discovering the issue, as it displays correctly with ‘product-category’.

Hi @gabriele1454,

How about disabling the plugin and renaming your permalinks, so that they can all be in English instead?
