    Hello all,

I do not know why in some cases, when entering the credit card details, expiry date and CVV, the payment form also asks for the zip code. This causes a problem for customers, because often it even needs a specific format, otherwise it gives a zip validation error. It seems that in many cases (I don’t know if in all cases) these are Canadian customers.

Can anyone tell me why sometimes this zip code is requested during checkout please?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello lisbelvr,

Thank you for contacting Woo support.

I visited your site and wasn’t prompted to enter any address information, including the zip code.
Could you please share the exact steps where the issue occurs?
This will help me better understand the situation.

If possible, recording a video of the issue would be very helpful. You can use tools like Loom or Awesome Screenshot to capture the steps.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best regards.

Thanks Zubair Zahid for your response.

This is the problem, this happens just some times and I can’t replicate.

How can I know in what cases the zip code is requested and why? I don’t want to ask for zip code, never.

    Thanks for your time.

    Hi @lisbelvr

Credit card companies like Stripe typically require a ZIP code during payment as a security feature to prevent fraud. As you’ve noticed, this is particularly common with customers from certain countries, including Canada.

Unfortunately, WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway does not have this feature built-in. However, you can achieve this by using a custom code.

Please note that writing or providing custom code is not within the scope of our support policy. If you are still having problems, we recommend asking development questions on the #developers channel of the WooCommerce Community Slack. Many of our developers hang out there and will be able to offer insights into your question. You can also seek help from the following:

I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this gets you going in the right direction to get the job done.
