    Good afternoon all,

I have recently taken over access as an admin to my backend wordpress site and want to set up google tags on my site using wordpress. I am currently facing issues as there seems to be some old /existing configurations in place and i am having difficulties verifying these configurations.

Currently, on my wordpress site kit, i have linked google analytics and google tag manager to my google account. (screenshots below)

When i went to tag manager, there seem to already be an existing google tag that is linked to my account with an existing id (G- / GT- ) header (as seen in the screenshot below)

I have then made a new container as instructed by reading guides online and linked my sitekit to this new container i have created (screenshots below)

My question is, what is that existing google tag that is found under “all accounts”? Because this was set up by a previous user that is no longer here. A follow up question is how do i install the tag and properly link it to my account with site kit? the code below is what i would like to add with the tag.

I have tried using the debug feature and it says that there is currently no google tag found on my page

Thanks a lot in advance. I will also fill up the form for my site health

I have uploaded all the required screenshots here : https://imgur.com/a/xIbPQgM

*Edit, i cannot seem to upload images. Is there an alternative way?

Hi @weaveradm thanks for opening a support topic. Let me first start by saying that everything looks correct in your setup from an Analytics and Tag Manager standpoint. I don’t see any issues here and can see that Site Kit is placing the Analytics code snippet as expected and I can see this firing along with your other Google tags when checking your site at https://tagassistant.google.com/.

Is the Analytics property you have shared in your screenshots the property you wish to use? If not then you can change this from your Analytics module settings in Site Kit (Site Kit > Settings > Connected Services > Analytics > edit).

Do you also have access to this Analytics property? You can check this from your Analytics account to make sure. Otherwise as stated above, everything looks correct to me.

Hi @adamdunnage Thank you for your reply. I have added one screenshot while using the tagassistant and you can see that it detected 0 tags on my website. Is this normal?

A follow up question as well, from my analytics property, i can see that i am connected to the web data stream of my google tag rather than the container i have set up in tag manager, should i be connecting it to the container instead?

All in all, i would just want to ensure that the tag with the code blocks i lshown are found in my website.

    Thanks.

@weaveradm From the screenshot you have shared of checking your site on the tagassistant, I can see that it says “Not connected”. As you can see in this screenshot I was connected to your site and could see all the tags mentioned in my previous comment.

Regarding your other question, the choice is yours to make but there is no problem being connected to the web data stream of the Google tag so the setup you have is correct.

I hope this helps to answer your questions.
