Sitemap Html error

Thanks for reaching out about your sitemap; I can confirm it’s XML and not HTML. It’s not uncommon for Google to report an XML as HTML. It’s a false-positive that usually resolves, though you may have to resubmit the sitemap index a couple of times.

Thank you for replying. This issue has been showing for a while and i tried many times to resubmit my sitemap but it always give the same error. And its kind of annoying because now my website is appearing messed up on google search. I would really appreciate your help.

When you resubmit the sitemap, kindly allow Google some time to update. Google Search Console is not real time so crawling can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Be patient and monitor progress using either the?Index Status report?or the?URL Inspection tool.

For the website appearing messed up on Google Search Engine Result Page:

It sounds like a different problem other than the sitemap. Please create a new thread for new issues. That way, it’s easier for us to match replies with a specific problem. Thanks!

Its been around 3 weeks since i have uploaded the sitemap again, but till now its giving me the same error. Anyways thanks for the help and i will open another thread for the other problem.

Since Google Search Console shows your sitemaps appear as HTML, this is also caused by a caching plugin. Please exclude your sitemaps from being cached and then delete the existing sitemap from Google Search Console and then resubmit the index sitemap only.
