So, I’ve monkeyed with Multisite to support multiple domains (using these instructions and these fixes).

The only remaining problem is that the non-subdomain sites no longer respect the file upload limits found in php.ini (and .htaccess, for that matter).

Is there a database attribute that I can add/change to modify the file size limit? If not, is there another way to attack this problem (that I’ve created)?

    Thanks!

  • Super Admin -> Options. Check the Upload Limits size.

The above instructions actually create multiple *networks* and is not the recommended way to go about having multiple domains. If all you wanted was mapped domains and not multi-network where each one of those now has its own super admin settings… which is what you’ve got

    Andrea,

    Thanks for the fast reply.

The one snag is that the sub-networks don’t show Super Admin in their dashboards — it looks, instead, like I’m logged in as a non-super sub-domain site administrator. The Super Admin settings in the main site are set to allow large file uploads, and the sub-domains under it respect those settings, but not the sub-network sites.

I have been slowly resigning myself to the necessity (and relative ease) of relying on the MU domain mapping plugin, rather than monkeying with the database. (I’m getting really tired of issuing MySQL commands every time I want to add a new theme to the sub-network sites.) Hmm… I guess it’s just my geeky pride that’s standing in the way.

And you;re hitting all these snags because you did it manually. ??

there’s not only domain mapping plugin, there’s multiple network plugins as well – which DO show the Super Admin menus on the sub networks.

Just go get the DM plugin already – you’ll be smacking your head shortly thereafter. ??
