Trying to install woocommerce

Normally you install plugins fropm Plugins -> Add New. You can also upload the .zip file (not the folder) via Plugins -> Add New -> Upload Plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/manage-plugins/#installing-plugins-1

But if you’re still on a local server, you could run into problems with that depending on your server configuration. Local servers are generally for testing sites or building new sites by advanced developers, not for hosting live sites.

If you’re having trouble adding plugins to localhost site, simply drag and drop the expanded /woocommerce/ folder (and any other expanded plugin folder) into the /wp-content/plugins/ folder.

So am I to add this folder to my wordpress folder in htdocs C:\Users\mathm\Downloads\woocommerce.9.3.3.zip\woocommerce. So do I add the woocommerce folder to the plugins folder. If so I can do that

I have tried to install woocommerce and get an error message that states:

I installed woocommerce to my plugin folder and cannot open the folder in wordpress.

When exactly do you see that error? In the Plugins section of the Dashboard, the WooCommerce section of the Dashboard, or somewhere else?

Have you opened and modified any files directly?

woocommerce. I read most of the things you posted but I still cannot install woo commerce.

I open up, as in removed the semi colon from the various items I found in some of the reading. What I could not open up was: json, dom + libxml, hash, igbinary, imagick, pcre and xml. According to the reading these need to be usable as well as the various extensions. So how do I make the above list to make word press usable. These things will make it easier to install components ?

So, back to your original issue in these forums, those modules need to be installed, and you need to recompile PHP with those modules enabled.

Simply changing the configuration won’t be enough, you need to recompile after, and if you can’t add them to the configuration, then you need to install them, re-configure, and recompile.

Local server environments are really only intended for advanced developers who already know how to manage servers. They are generally only for testing and not publicly accessible without some further advanced work, including heavy usage and uptime contracts with your ISP.

I have Apache, php 8, and wordpress, and mysql working properly. I go to the plugin section of wordpress and am having trouble getting the plugins to work properly. I cannot get some of the things that wordpress is looking for and am unable to turn on. I don’t know where to find them. So I need to turn on a couple of pieces of software.

Ok, you’ll need to consult with a support venue that specializes your localhost server software to help you get all components of that configured and installed.

To be truly honest with you, you are making all of this much more difficult than it needs to be. Most big name WordPress professionals don’t even configure their own localhost server.
