• For the past 4 weeks, I have been unable to add or delete widgets in the right sidebar on both the WordPress dashboard or on the Sydney dashboard. I just updated the theme, and it still does not work. I also updated the WP Classic Widgets and it did not help. I can re-arrange widgets (and make them inactive), but I cannot add a new one or edit (or delete) an old one. Any help would be appreciated!

  • Hi @lifeoffred,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

I did testing with standard installation of WordPress site with only one plugin active, that is Classic Widgets. I can confirm that there is no issue with the widgets management while Sydney is the active theme.

I guess you have particular plugins that probably interfere the widget’s behavior. To verify this, I’d suggest doing troubleshooting by disabling all plugins at once and test out your widgets management screen, save, and check the result. When you see there is no issue, to narrow down the source of the issue, re-enable the plugins one by one and run a test in each.

Before doing the suggestion above to avoid your site’s visitors being affected, you may enable Troubleshooting mode with Health Check plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/search/health+check/.

    Hello @kharisblank,

Okay…I find it odd though, that I CAN make them inactive, but just CANNOT edit, add, or delete them. It’s like I cannot save any changes for widgets. That to me feels like a widget-specific problem.

    Hi @lifeoffred,

    Thank you for getting back!

Did you experience the same issue with default widget like Text widget? Please confirm.

Yes, that is correct. I cannot edit, add or delete any widgets, including text widgets.

    Hi @lifeoffred,

    Thanks for your confirmation.

I am wondering you’d get the issue remains there while testing out of default classic WordPress themes like Twenty Sixteen: https://www.ads-software.com/themes/twentysixteen/.

If you test out with that theme and the issue remains there, the culprit may not related with Sydney.

Okay, I’ll give that a try!
