Non-commercial site forcing upgrade to paid

I have the same Issue. We’re a small Hiking Group and use the Site informing about our Hikes, we don’t generate any Money with that, but now we should upgrade to a commercial Plan ?

I have made an adjustment on our end that will fix the issue. You can now add a non-commercial stats plan by going to:

@lastsplash – actually this link is part of the problem. I manage multiple sites with my wordpress.com account and the UI at https://wordpress.com/stats/purchase link doesn’t let me choose the appropriate site. Part of a larger issue: I don’t access sites via wordpress.com all that often, and it seems that while I wasn’t paying attention, the UI was changed so it’s difficult/impossible to choose a specific site without actually going TO that site’s admin interface. So no, problem not solved.

I apologize for the confusion here. You should be able to add the noncommercial subscription at:

We also are aware that interface on WordPress.com is a bit confusing for self-hosted Jetpack sites and are hoping to see that improved in the future.

When I register for the free non-commercial version, I’m still asked for a payment method. This is unacceptable.

I am assuming this means that you are on the checkout page. If that is the case, you can select the radio button to skip adding payment information:

Since it is a free subscription, there won’t be an issue.
