    Dear WooCommerce Support Team,

When users complete express checkout via Apple Pay or Google Pay, the order attribution source still shows “Unknown”

After reviewing several GitHub discussions, it appears that the said issue remains unresolved. Are we permitted to modify the WooCommerce core file: /woocommerce/assets/js/frontend/order-attribution.js as referred in the below-said link: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/commit/f17524dff6344ecf4322f32c5c625a6acfd80e78

Additionally, what potential impact could this modification have on the live website and WooCommerce’s future updates?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards

    SP

Hi @srpnutratea, thanks for your patience while the team works on getting this fix out.

Are we permitted to modify the WooCommerce core file

Sure, you’re permitted to change whichever file you want to your liking, but note the caveats below.

Additionally, what potential impact could this modification have on the live website and WooCommerce’s future updates?

The best way to be sure of the impact changes will have on your specific site with its unique combination of themes and plugins, is to set up a staging version and test the changes on there first.

Also note that as with all plugins, if you edit the WooCommerce files directly in the plugin itself, any changes will be wiped away the next time the plugin is updated. Have a look at our developer documenation for potential alternatives, or discuss options on the WooCommerce Community on Slack.
