    Hello,

What we are trying to do:

    • Create a user role for someone to log in to the site and only be able to mark attendees as checked in (or not checked in) for an event.
    • This would be an alternative to using the app to check in guests, so organizers can see a final attendee count on a desktop computer.

In referencing these pages of your documentation:

We have installed and activated the User Role Editor plugin.

In the WordPress dashboard, we navigated to Users > User Role Editor

We created a new role, “Ticket Checker” (ID ticket_checker)

Using “quick filter,” we searched for the capability, “tribe_manage_attendees” (per your documentation). It does not come up.

We searched for “read” but nothing related to attendees comes up.

The option to read “private” events is there, but this is not useful to us, because we have public events.

We searched for “event” but this only brings up the capabilities of editing, publishing or deleting “tribe events.”

We searched for “attend…” and nothing came up.

We searched for “ticket” and nothing came up.

In all of the above searches, we also selected “Show deprecated capabilities.”

Can you tell us what we need to select (and update) in the User Role Editor plugin so that our event organizers can only check in attendees through our website, without having access to any other editing capabilities?

Note: Event organizers equals the “Ticket Checker” role in the context of this request.

    We particularly want to avoid:

    • Allowing users to edit any posts, including Events, or any event taxonomies (e.g. venues, categories, organizers, etc.)
    • Allowing users to edit any orders (including WooCommerce orders).

Ideally, they should ONLY be able to log in to the site, navigate to “Attendees” and check people in as they arrive at the door. This would then also update the attendee list on everyone’s phones when multiple people are checking in attendees through the app.

    Is this possible?

I want to assure you that we already have an existing internal ticket, referenced as [GTRIA-1271], which is focused on resolving this issue. In the meantime, I have added your case to our internal ticket.

We prioritize bugs by taking into consideration the number of users impacted as well as how the bug impacts one’s ability to run an event/sell tickets. I don’t have a specific timeline as to when this issue will be resolved, but trust that our team is aware. Our team communicates updates and bug fixes in our newsletter and via our changelog.

I’m happy to help if any other questions are coming up around this topic, otherwise I’ll go ahead and close this ticket.

Thanks again for reporting this issue and for using Event Tickets! Have a great day.

We have a similar goal here: the Organizers are getting a Mail with a link to the attendee list, and we need a tailored user role fro them to only see and download the attendee list of the events where they are organisers.
