Hi @lastratagemma,
Sorry to hear about the issues noticed. It’s important to note that Forminator supports the integration of Google reCaptcha and if you are still getting spam then it would point that bots have somehow managed to bypass the Google Captcha.
The plugin enables the setup of various versions of reCaptcha, including v2 checkbox, v2 invisible, and v3, as detailed in our documentation found here:
https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#captcha.
Additionally, Forminator provides the option to use hCaptcha, if you prefer an alternative to Google’s reCaptcha.
More information on hCaptcha this can be found at:
https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#hcaptcha-settings.
While it’s difficult to definitively recommend which version of reCaptcha is superior, generally, v3 is considered to have an advantage.
You can read more about the comparison between reCaptcha v2 and v3 here: https://www.arkoselabs.com/blog/recaptcha-v2-vs-v3-which-is-better-for-bot-protection
?We would like to insert a type of recaptcha with tests to run (e.g. traffic light selection etc)?
The above would be the v2 checkbox reCaptacha, which you’ll need to configure.
I would recommend increasing the security by making sure you have Honeypot protection enabled and also using plugins like Akismet or Cleantalk as mentioned in the doc for additional protection:
https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#enable-honeypot-protection
https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#cleantalk-anti-spam
The above plugin should help with reducing the spam.
Kind Regards,
Nithin
