I created a full backup of my website with the free version today. When I try to restore on a different host, I receive the notification, “Please enter your decryption key to decrypt your backup.” and it asks for a decryption key. Below the decryption key form field and the submit button, in red it says “Extracted with errors. Please, see the log for more information.” My backup is not encrypted. I tried to download the log, but it was an empty .zip file. I am using BackWPup version 4.1.5 and WordPress Version 6.6.2.

    Hello,

    Thank you for reaching out.

The Backup restore will ask for a decryption key only when you have an encrypted backup following this: – https://backwpup.com/docs/how-can-i-encrypt-backups-before-i-upload-them/.

Please make sure you are using the correct backup ZIP file, example format – https://prnt.sc/WXnRTb1criF-. Sometimes you upload the wrong file, but the correct one is inside the ZIP you have.

Let me know how it goes.

I don’t have the pro version to be able to encrypt the back up. I can also access all of the files in the zip file so I don’t think it is actually encrypted. I have uploaded the correct file. I’ve tried a few times with the same result.

I searched the forums for an answer and it seems others have had the same issue without a resolution before the thread was closed. Any other advice that may fix this issue or should I try a different plugin?
