Wrong UI language in post.php /?post-new.php

  • It’s the first time I see this problem,

    Fresh install of WordPress 6.6.2 with french language. I tried with Twenty Twenty-Four and Twenty Twenty-Three.

    In BO, everything is in French (menu, submenu, settings screens, posts list screen, everything). Perfect. When I want to create a new post or update an old one, Gutenberg set language in English. At start, I have “Saisir / pour choisir un bloc” but blocks and publish button are in English. If I click on “Saisir / pour choisir un bloc”, the text changes for “Type / to choose a block”

    I reinstall WordPress twice, same problem.

    No error inside browser console and all the files load correctly. I tried on Firefox and Edge on my desktop, Chrome on my Android Phone.

    What can I do?

  • Sounds interesting. However, I can’t reproduce it for myself. I also tested it in the Playground, but it doesn’t happen there either. This raises a few questions:

    Which French package are you using exactly? (Belgium, Canada, France)

    Do you have any plugins active? If so, does it also happen when you deactivate them?

    Have you tried it on different computers? Just to rule out any add-ons or apps on the computer.

    What language profile does your browser have?

    => Any plugin, totally fresh install for the second attempt.

    Have you tried it on different computers? Just to rule out any add-ons or apps on the computer.
    => Yes, on Firefox (Browser in English), Edge (Browser in French) on a laptop.?Chrome (Browser in french) on a smartphone.

    It’s more subtle than I said. In the first seconds, I refresh the page, you see “Saississez le titre”, “Saisir / pour choisir un bloc”. Then, patterns come out, title in English (Choose a pattern) but patterns in French! (à propos…)
    If we continue, when I click on “Saisir / pour choisir un bloc”, language change to English (but you can see “Publish button” is already in English. But, Blocks continue to be in French (Paragraphe, Image, Titre,…) but not the UI (Search, Browse all).
    Finally, block params is a mess: styles are in French (Avec astérisque) AND in English (Default) in the same time.?The tabs are in English (Block) but not the description or the title of the block (Titre)

    In WordPress, overall language is french and in my profile it’s french too.

    Oh I found the problem! I use ‘WP_CONTENT_URL’ in my wp-config and I wrote https:/// with three slashes other than https://.?

    But strange that impact only Gutenberg and I have no errors inside console and network with developer tools.

    I’m glad you were able to solve it. Presumably this information related to loading the language files in the block editor. These were then probably no longer or not completely there. You are welcome to set the topic to solved.
