    Hello,

My name is Palak, and I am a WordPress developer at Wingstech Solutions. I am encountering a complex issue in the admin dashboard where some order lists are missing details for variable items, specifically SKU and variation ID. Additionally, certain custom metadata is not being recorded as expected.

Despite my efforts to replicate the issue, I have been unsuccessful. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in identifying the root cause and finding a solution.

    Thank you for your help!

    Best regards,
    Palak

  • Hey Palak,

I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing with missing SKU and variation ID details. You’ve mentioned not being able to reproduce the issue, can you clarify how many orders presented this issue?

Have there been any recent changes to the site (updates to themes, or plugins) prior to this issue occurring, and are you perhaps using any plugins that modify product data or custom fields?

Can you please share a clear screenshot of the following:

    • The order list where SKU and variation ID are missing (please redact any sensitive customer information)
    • The order details page for an affected order.

Snipboard.io?can be used for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on that page, then paste the URL in this thread.

Additionally, can you please share a copy of the sites System Status Report. You can find this via?WooCommerce?→?Status. Select?Get system report?and then?Copy for Support.

    Cheers!

    Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. I’ve recently identified that 17 orders are missing variation ID details. I implemented custom code to add metadata after successful payment completion, and my website is fully updated.

For your reference, here is the system report link and a screenshot of the orders:

Could you please assist me in resolving this issue?

    Thank you for your support!

    Hi @wingstech ,

Thanks for sharing the details, Palak. Missing details for variable items can sometimes happen because of custom code interference or database issues.

From your system status report, a standout detail is that your server’s PHP version is 7.4.33. WooCommerce and WordPress often benefit from using the latest PHP versions for both security and performance improvements. Upgrading PHP to a supported version (for example, PHP 8.0 or higher) could potentially resolve issues and improve your site’s speed.

Before we move forward with a more technical route, could you first try to utilize the built-in WooCommerce tools for database and order management? Go to WooCommerce > Status > Tools. From there, you can use options like “Create default WooCommerce pages,” “Clear transients,” or “Recount terms” to troubleshoot.

For SKU and variation IDs specifically, you can check the ‘Product lookup tables’ tool to regenerate them. This can sometimes fix issues with missing data.

    Here’s a guide: https://woocommerce.com/document/understanding-the-woocommerce-system-status-report/tools/

If you have large amounts of data, consider running these tools during off-peak hours. As always, ensure you have a current backup before making any changes or use a staging site to troubleshoot. If this doesn’t solve the problem, let’s continue troubleshooting with more details you find.
