We’ve been getting bricked sites when Yoast SEO auto-updated to v23.7 if running WordPress versions older than 6.5.

Yes, Yoast is not compatible with WordPress < 6.5, but Yoast SEO v23.6 properly handled this incompatibility. v23.7 on the other hand is causing this fatal error:

PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function wp_is_serving_rest_request() in /nas/content/live/site/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/src/integrations/front-end-integration.php:551

    Hi @cyjosh

One of the things that could have happened is that something went wrong during the update of the plugin.

First please make sure your site meets the plugin requirements.

Next, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database for your site’s health and safety. A backup is crucial before making important changes on your website and provides you with a safety net if something were to go wrong. Learn more about the benefits of regular backups.

Once the above steps are completed, kindly try to uninstall and delete the Yoast SEO and then reinstall and reactivate Yoast SEO 23.7. Then check if the issue exists.
