Updated the theme from .11 to .12 and it breaks the home page where the background and text no longer displays correctly and just a “!” on top left is shown, but after successfully restoring back to .11 it reverts correctly.

It shows correctly in the Visual Editor, just live page is broke.

Similar display issues here; Home page is broken but subsequent pages render correctly. Have rolled back to 3.8.11

    Hi there,

I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing issues.

Is there any chance you can share some screenshots of the issues? ( how it looks in the editor and how it looks on the frontend)?

    Thank you!

    Hi there. For sure. Thanks.

Screen-shot one is how the Home page (and only the home page) renders in the latest 3.8.12 version of the theme. Screen-shot two is the same page (Home) under 3.8.11.

Links: https://salutethepig.com/ for the issue and https://salutethepig.com/page/2/ where things get better again.

Apologies. The site only renders as expected in Opera on the Mac desktop. All other browsers exhibit the same problem on the home page. You should be able to see this effect simply by browsing to the URL.

I’ve not — to my knowledge — made any changes to the site back-end or the theme setup but this problem started becoming obvious over the past 2-3 days, so I’m not 100% sure where the issue lies, sorry.

@salutethepig Thanks for posting the pics….

@rodicaelena I am also displaying a similar type of behavior, except most of the backgrounds are missing as well, but they show in the editor. I am away and unable to get into the admin panel at the moment, but Salutethepig is having the same issues as me, just with different content, obviously.

    Hope this can be resolved.

Just a quick update here; my site looks to be rendering successfully now, with none of the strange layout and omissions that I posted screenshots of yesterday.

I switched over to using another theme (Parabola), activated that, then switched back and replaced it with Neve 3.8.11 and re-activated that. I then upgraded again to 3.8.12, cleared all the caches via Litespeed and Cloudflare and <touches wood> the site is displaying as expected in the various browsers I test with on Windows, iOS and MacOS.

I have not had the success that salutethepig has had, and am still having the issue where the front page background and wording disappears after the update. I have also purged the cache, and did the switch to another theme as well with no successful results.

I still need help fixing this issue.

I think I finally narrowed down there issue. My index page relies on the original include file “neve-hero-2.png” as the background, this new update breaks this and the file is not included in the update. However when I try to manually add it, the results are not fluid and that background png no longer works as the original default style.

The 3.8.12 theme looks nothing like the original 3.8.11 and prior themes (picture enclosed)

Why was this removed, and can this be added back, as this was part of the style why I chose Neve.

    Hi,

I’m sorry for the trouble. You probably were using the default images and content coming with the default content, and as that was changed, those images are no longer available.

The only solution would be to either use a previous backup to get back your site in that state, and make sure to actually upload the images on your site, instead of using the default ones from the theme, or just try to replicate it back by downloading the images from that starter site from here https://demosites.io/ ( just save them on your computer ) and uploading them on the site.

I understand this is not the easiest solution but unfortunately there isn’t something else I can provide for this case.

    Kind regards!
