Is there a plugin or a method, or even a plan to improve the speed of creating events? I run an music events calendar and it takes FOREVER to create events, to the point that it takes too long and I can’t keep up with getting the events in.

Ideally, just a form where I could add in 5 – 10 titles, descriptons, tags, categories, prices etc so that I just have to set it up and publish once.

If I’m adding a tour where someone plays 10 events, it takes FOREVER, even with duplicating the previous events ??

    Hi @delanthear ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

I understand this situation can be frustrating; but, let me try to assist you here to the best of my abilities.

To be clear, is it after you hit the Publish button that the process of adding an event takes time?

If that is the case, I suspect there’s a conflict that’s causing the slowness issue here, as it shouldn’t take long to save (or publish) an event. It would be good to test for conflicts. Could you follow the following steps?

    1. Deactivate all other plugins except for The Events Calendar Plugins.
    2. Switching to the Default theme.

Please read the Testing for Conflicts Article before doing anything.

To be safe, we’d recommend conducting tests and updates on a Staging Server. Also, please keep a working backup of your website.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. It’s the process, not saving/publishing. It just takes a long time to fill in the 10* different areas, all of which you need.

I’ve a bucket to add right now, but it’s so tedious and slow I can’t face it!

    * title, date, description, price, location, link, link title, featured image, category, tag….

    Hi @delanthear ,

Thank you for your message and clarification.

Since it is the process that you’re having a challenge with, may I recommend doing a CSV import instead (see Getting Started with Event Aggregator). I would recommend you test out the process in a staging environment so as not to disrupt your live site.

That might work. On a first play:

    1. It failed to import the date correctly. Might be my issue with the date I put it.
    2. It failed to set any times properly.
    3. It used the old layout, instead of the new gutenberg blocks layout
    4. It didn’t create a venue. I guess it needs the venue to already be created?
    5. It didn’t upload/use the image url I specified.

    Hi @delanthear ,

Thank you for your message. Please find my remarks below:

    1. It failed to import the date correctly. Might be my issue with the date I put it. — Please have a look at our <span style=”box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;”>article on Importing Calendar Data From a CSV File?knowledgebase?</span>for information on CSV imports.
    2. It failed to set any times properly. — This could be due to formatting, kindly have a look at our CSV File Formatting and Examples knowledgebase for formatting your CSV imports.
    3. It used the old layout, instead of the new gutenberg blocks layout — Unfortunately, CSV imports does use the classic editor layout, and we currently do not have a way to change it.
    4. It didn’t create a venue. I guess it needs the venue to already be created? — Yes, venues and organizers need to be created first.
    5. It didn’t upload/use the image url I specified. — This could be due to formatting as well. Kindly have a look at #2.

Next attempt fixed the date and time issue, but didn’t use the image. I used the url generated from an image uploaded to the media gallery. The correct url was shown in the preview, but wasn’t added to the featured images.

    Hi @delanthear

Could you try activating only our plugins and see if that resolves the issue?

If the problem persists, could you provide the versions of the following? This will help me understand your system setup better:

    • WordPress
    • The Events Calendar
    • PHP
    • Your active theme

Let me know how it goes.
