• Hello, A few days ago I activated Twenty Twenty Four theme and made a few basic customizations no css etc. Today i installed and activated the woocommerce core plugin and wooPayments to test it out. However, being new to woocommerce I didn’t realise that it would replace my original theme’s customisations, menu’s etc. I uninstalled and deleted all woocommerce plugins however my original settings did not restore. I then tried activating another theme, deleting then reactivating twenty twenty four. But the woocommerce customisations remained. And the theme’s original templates and patterns have disappeared.

Can any one suggest how I can restore the twenty twenty four settings?

    Thank you for the help.

  • When you “delete” a plugin through the WordPress admin interface, only the plugin’s files are removed from your wp-content/plugins directory. However, its database entries (such as those stored in wp_options and possibly other tables) remain intact.

    From the WooCommerce documentation:

There are two things to understand when uninstalling or removing WooCommerce:

    • If you deactivate and delete the plugin from WordPress, you only remove the plugin and its files. Your settings, orders, products, pages, etc., will still remain in the database.
    • To remove?all?WooCommerce data, including products, order data, etc., you need to modify the site’s?wp-config.php?file before deactivating and deleting the plugin. For more information, refer to the?WooCommerce Developer Documenation.”??

The easiest solution would be to restore a backup of your site before installing WooCommerce.?

    Thank you.

I should share that I reinstalled a a previous older theme I had been using until recently, and all the settings, layout, menus etc are more or less intact. Curiously, there is no sign of modification by WooCommerce associated Plugins, despite the fact that I neglected to ?modify the site’s?wp-config.php?file before deactivating and deleting the plugins.?So the problem is solely with the Twenty Twenty Four Theme. I’m rather confused . . .

Looks like WooCommerce made changes only to the Twenty Twenty-Four theme. I tried to replicate the problem on a fresh installation, and after installing WooCommerce on the Twenty Twenty-Four theme and deleting it (without modifying the wp-config.php file first), I encountered a similar issue.

To troubleshoot, I took the following steps:

    1. I deleted the WooCommerce-related entries from the database. You can do this by logging into phpMyAdmin, accessing your WP database, and looking for tables starting with “woo.” I deleted those.
    2. Then, I deleted the theme directly from the wp-content/themes directory and reinstalled it.
    3. If the theme still looks different after reinstalling, go to?Appearance > Editor > Templates?and change the template of the Twenty Twenty-Four theme to restore its original settings.

NOTE: Make sure to clear your cache if you are using any caching plugins

I also recommend making a backup of your site before attempting these changes, just in case something goes sideways.

    Hi Lina

I carefully followed your instructions, however when I reinstalled and activated Twenty Twenty Four, the default templates and patterns were not visible in the site editor settings and I couldn’t even figure out how to manually insert the default main navigation menu. So I’ve uninstalled the theme and reverted back to my old Tienda (circa 2014) theme which although no longer receiving updates, functions OK with the latest WordPress version. Having used Twenty Twenty Four for only a week, I realise that it’s rather complex and time consuming to learn.

In any case, if you have any more suggestions on how to get back the original templates et al, I would consider learning how to use it more effectively.

Once again, I do appreciate your help on this.

    Robert
