I have updated a couple of sites now to 9.4.1. The “Payments” admin menu item now persists with a notification bubble and I am unable to remove it. I do not have WooPayments installed and I have already dismissed the thing that shows in the payments tab. How do I remove the admin menu item?

Glad not the only one! I already use Stripe on my store and even installed the WooPayments plugin to see if there was any option to select to say no, however the tab still appears unfortunately

Hi folks, it appears that the following PR introduced this change with the 9.4.x release:

@nigeljamesstevenson well it’s busted and doesn’t work properly and needs to be reverted. It currently takes me to a blank page. Also, I would like an option to remove it. I don’t want it. It’s just more clutter in the admin menu section. WooCommerce already has 4 menu items, I don’t really want another.

@nigeljamesstevenson also, neither the home page under WooCommerce, the Payments tab, or Analytics works. Blank screens. I tested on a fresh install of 2024 with no other plugins. Getting these errors in the dev console.

EDIT: A hard refresh fixed this issue. Something must have been cached. The main Home section as well as Analytics works now. However, the Payments menu item is still busted and blank.

This is what I see when I click the payments menu item. It’s happened on multiple sites now that I’ve tested.

Yeah, same. I’ve never installed or used it and never will.

Same here. How to remove this part of the left menu? Never activated this plugin on this page – and the plugin isn’t good enough to be an alternative. So – not interested. Why is this payments menu there when there is no usage? How to get rid of this?

    Hello fox-didl,

Thank you for your message here.

Could you confirm whether you are facing any bug/error with the Payments tab or you simply want an option to hide it?

Looking forward to your response. ??

??? To show the navigation item PAYMENTS when it is not used and leads to a blank page IS a bug!

I don’t want an option to hide it. It must not be there, if the plugin isn’t activ. It’s so easy.

There are two possibilites why this is there at this moment!

    • It’s a bug (I don’t think this is the reason)
    • Advertising decision to get WooPayments into the brain of shop owners. (I think this is it). But owners like me knew WooPayments already and decide very consciously not to use it, just because it’s not good enough and to limitet in features. Just because it’s nothing else than Stripe service whitelabelled to Woo.

Just remove this “always visible” and limit this at this moment WooPayments plugin is active.
