Hello, I’m changing Labels to Portuguese, because I use WPML to translate into 5 other languages.
But when I save at the end, the changes are not made.
I have a mixture of Portuguese and English!

    Can you help?

  • Hi there, thanks for writing.

I am examininng your site and there are some mixed labels, but I wouldn’t say they are all mixed between Portuguese and English. This is what I see in german, italian and french, for example.

You can always edit the standard .mo and .po files with PoEdit to translate parts of the UI that are not post or page contents. I understand you have taken a look at our article about translations?

Please get back and let me know how you have managed to translate the UI labels so far.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    It’s only happening in Portuguese
    https://prnt.sc/Blw5SMjMZQjw
    The default language is Portuguese

it’s always been fine, it must have happened because of the latest WP update

but in the back office in settings, I can’t save the changes, it’s in English and I want to switch to Portuguese

I change the labels to Portuguese and at the end when it saves, it doesn’t save.
The first label is in Portuguese

Why won’t it save the changes?!

    Hi again,

Um, that is a bit weird. Did you try modifying the .mo and .po files as I suggested the other day? Let me know.

    Thank you for your reply.
I haven’t tried messing with those files, I might be doing something wrong.

I translate everything with WPML and don’t use any other form of translator

these are the files I have in the folder
    https://prnt.sc/aHpr4W6qwNML

For example, these strings are in Portuguese and English

When I have all the strings translated
    https://prnt.sc/9k9dq2kgezXd

I’ve been using this plugin for a long time without any problems, it may have been the latest WP updates.
I’m sorry, I’m not a programmer and I’m not experienced enough to detect this error.

Looking deeper into the subject, I realised that in wpml I had to rewrite the translated strings!!!
This happened after the latest WP updates.
It’s all sorted now and thanks for following up.

I look forward to new versions of the product.

    Hello again,

Ok, many thanks for letting us know. I am not super savvy with WPML and I didn’t know about that solution you mention, but I’m glad you figured it out!

    Best regards,
