Since the new WP I cannot delete or create new backups. The UI does NOT react. It is frustrating and a bit frightening. I always relied on Updraft Plus. Am I alone in this? Delete and reinstall?

    Hi there,

Looking at this request and your other it does appear your WordPress install may have issues.
No other users are reporting this problem. It seems more likely you need to reinstall WordPress.

Before doing this you could try a plugin conflict test by disabling all plugins except UpdraftPlus.
In addition, you could swap to a default theme to make sure it is not an issue with the theme.

    Best regards,

    Nick

I reinstalled WP, roled-back UpdraftPlus, deactivated the latest plugin (Hustle), even deleted UpdraftPlus, and re-installed it.

The plugin (UdP) does NOT respond to ANY click.

    Anybody got a clue?

What happens if you, for testing purposes, deactivate *all* other plugins, switch to a default theme (e.g. TwentyTwentyFour), and try in an Incognito browser window?

WOW…. Never expected this: the problem was browser related. Never had any problems with Chrome. Just tried Firefox, and BINGO -everything works like it should.

(I deleted all Chrome’s browser history, that did not work)

    Happy and puzzled…

    Hi there,

It sounds like David was indeed correct with the last step of changing the browser.
I’ll have to remember that one too. We’re pleased to see the issue is now resolved.

    Best regards,

    Nick

Still, some strange things happening. Everything is backed up, except WP core.

Deleted all .zip files from: 3dsoftware.nl/files/wp-content/updraft/

Tried Opera, WP core still isn’t backed up.

    Still puzzled. Anybody any ideas?

Browser extensions can do just about anything on a page (and are invisible to web page code, i.e. nothing in WordPress can know if an extension is installed). The world of Chrome extensions is as much of a Wild West as WordPress plugins can be – i.e. they can easily break anything on a web page.

So, you could well find it works in Chrome after de-activating all your extensions.

Thank you Mr. Anderson, but alas you were not right. There were very few extensions in Chrome, and those present, were deleted. Still no functionality of Updraft: no backup possible.

You did not address the issue, where all of a sudden wpcore.zip is not part of the backup anymore.

I rolled back UpdraftPlus to R 1.23.16, and made a backup in Firefox: no wpcore.zip. So there must be another obscure – maybe desktop computer related – reason that a wpcore backup is skipped.

    Hi there,

Could you please provide the backup log file using Pastebin or similar?
This will potentially help us to identify reasons for the missing wp-core.

    Hi there,

The free version of the plugin does not allow you to back up the wp-core files.
This feature, and a great many others, is only supported in the Premium plugin.

Looking at the log file you have warnings about very large files, two total 3GB.
The first appears to be a backup from another backup solution, that’s near 1GB.

The second is a debug log which is near 2GB. Check if you really need these files.
If they’re not needed removing the files will make your backups smaller and faster.

    Best regards,

    Nick

Thanks for your answer & time. It is utterly strange that I always had a backup of wp-core (for years!) and suddenly, after the Chrome troubles, it disappears. Did I have a paid version after all? 3dservices.nl or 3dsoftware.nl… Could you check that?

I’ll look into the large files; thanks for signaling that…
