Cannot add calendar to main menu

I’d like to add the calendar plugin to the main menu of my site, I’ve followed the calendar guide page here https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/adding-a-calendar-link-to-your-site-menu/ and everything seems straightforward and matches my site settings. I can add the events page to the menu in the WP appearance>menu settings but nothing shows up in my main menu. I’m starting to think this is a bug or clash with the theme? or possibly Kubio? When building the main menu, everything worked as it should and I had no issues, only this. I’d like to add a menu item called Events and make it a child of News.
