• Hi,

I am attempting to create a blog page for my website at the included domain. I watched a tutorial on how to setup a blog page and have been following the steps. I went to add new page->Add Title->Pulled in a blog template “Blog Surf 1”->Publish-> View Page->But then I get an error message saying, “Empty Template: Page:….” instead of having my blog and posts displayed at this point. The photo below is what my view looks like once this error occurs.

Can anyone please help me with this? Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks @whyviru . These steps are super helpful! For step #2 would you mind verifying specifically what I should see on the right-side menu bar of the blog page for my template. Mine says “blog home” for the template sub header and when I click on Edit or Show Template my view then shows the Variation themes home like so:

I am unaware if you are suggesting that the “Blog Surf 1” template should show somewhere here. Thanks again for your help.

When encountering the “Empty Template: Page:…” error while creating a blog page on your website, it usually indicates that the page template is empty or not configured correctly. Here are some potential solutions:

    1. Check the Theme’s Template Files:
      – Ensure your theme includes necessary template files, such as index.php or home.php.
      – If you’re using a child theme, verify that it properly inherits the parent theme’s templates.
    2. Disable Potentially Conflicting Plugins:
      – Deactivate all plugins, then reactivate them one by one to identify any plugin causing the issue.
    3. Switch Themes:
      – Temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme (e.g., Twenty Twenty-One) to determine if the issue is related to your current theme.

If the above methods don’t resolve the issue, it is recommended to contact your theme developer for assistance.
