    Hi @nr27 ,

Thank you for for your message. Unfortunately Instagram has made a decision to deprecate one of their most popular free APIs.

In their developer documentation, under Instagram Basic Display API we have this notice:

Their related announcement is here: https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2024/09/04/update-on-instagram-basic-display-api/

The good news is that we can switch to one of their other APIs for authentication and to fetch the media as outlined in their docs. The bad news is that those APIs are intended for Instagram Professionals — Businesses and Creators. The Basic API was the only one aimed at personal accounts, consumers.

If you have no issues in turning your Instagram account into a Business or Creator then this will not be a problem. I am already working to update the plugin’s code to work with the advanced API. The update is coming soon and next time you will try to authenticate you will see this page:

When you click Change it asks you to select Creator (like an influencer) or Business (like a company). The Creator option and the type Personal Blog, would suit most regular users.

As mentioned, the plugin update is coming soon. Thank you!

    Regards,
    George

    Hi George,

And what if I DO have issues in turning my Instagram account into a Business or Creator?

Will the update fix Petsonal Blogs?

    Hi again,

Personal Blog is a category of a Professional Account, it’s not the basic type of account.

If you do want to stay as a Basic Instagram account then you can not use Instagram APIs. No WP plugin update can help you in this case, unfortunately.

    Regards,
    George

    Hello,

The latest update of the plugin has been released and includes integration with Instagram’s Advanced API. You will need a Business/Creator account to use it as explained above.

    Thanks again!
    George
