opening a link in a widget in a new window

Have you tried adding “_blank” for the target?

Example: <a href="https://www.yourlink.com" target="_blank">Link</a>

This is going to be really bad for yr useability and accessibility. New windows are an IE thing circa 2003

just putting link in should be fine. That way your end user has a choice. They can click to open a link, they can right click to open a link in a new tab. Best practice is to give the end user of your site the option on where to open the link

that is my advice. You can add _blank, which forces a new tab/window to open. However if you do some googling about it you’ll find its very unpopular. It takes the choice on how to open your link away from the end user. It also makes the back button not work
