custom homepage archive view isn't working

I’ve made a custom homepage template for my wordpress theme, on a previous wordpress installation I could get to the archive by going to /page/1/ which would list all the posts as normal. Since I’ve installed a newer version of wordpress it’s just showing the custom homepage template, there doesn’t seem to be an easy way of getting to an archive view.
I was wondering if there was an easy fix? Would really appreciate the help
I thought this would have been a common problem so apologies if its already been covered somewhere else.
