I have been using BackWPup for quite some time, and it used to be one of the best backup plugins for WordPress. However, with the recent update to version 5.0, the user experience has taken a significant hit.

The new UI might look modern, but it comes at the cost of usability. Many essential settings have been moved to less intuitive locations, making them hard to find. For instance, setting a custom backup schedule—something that should be straightforward—is now unnecessarily complicated and buried deep within the interface.

While I appreciate updates that improve functionality and design, this one feels more like a step backward. A backup plugin should focus on reliability and ease of use, not on making users search for basic settings. I sincerely hope the developers reconsider these changes and bring back the simplicity that made BackWPup so great in the first place.

    Hi @sybena ,

We’re sorry to hear that the recent update to version 5.0 has negatively impacted your experience with BackWPup.

Our goal was to streamline the backup process, but we understand that it has affected usability for many users. We know how crucial it is to have a user-friendly experience, so in addition to enhancing the plugin’s features, we will also be improving usability based on feedback like yours.

In the meantime, if you prefer the previous version while we work on improvements, you can revert to 4.1.7 here.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make the plugin better for everyone. Thank you for your continued support.

    The BackWPup Team
