    Hello!

I am using the free version of your plugin. I am wondering if it is possible to make the first column “follow me” when I scroll to the right? Like in excel it is called “freeze panes” I believe.

    Thanks so much!

    Hello,
We are not able to find any of our tables on the Page you sent.
Can you confirm what is the table type?

We have the “Fixed Column” feature, please check how it works on this Documentation.
So you can easily set this up to ‘freeze’ the first column – so when you scroll horizontally, it will ‘follow’ the scrolling.

Please note, that this feature is not available for the Simple table type – So if you use this table type, please try any other table type and it should work.

If you wish to see the “Fixed column” for Simple tables :

Please feel free to search on our suggestions page (https://features.wpdatatables.com/),

to see if someone may be already suggested this feature. If you can’t see it, feel free to add your suggestion there, and as more people vote, the feature will move higher on the priority list.

    You can certainly follow our changeLog if you’d like(https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wpdatatables/#developers), where we state any changes/new features/bug fixes during updates;

and our newsletter(https://wpdatatables.com/newsletter/), so you’re informed about new features, bug fixes, freebies, etc.

Let me know if you have any additional questions about this.

    Hello!

Thank you for your reply. I am sorry, I have actually added this feature on our new danish website that I am working on but I can’t share it cause it can’t be accessed yet.

I was able to find that the table I am using is a simple table. When I click on creating a table, my only two options are “create a simple table from scratch” and “create a data table linked to an existing data source”. I don’t really know how to create or change my current table to anything other than “simple”? This seems to be the easiest option if it is possible to do?

    Hello,
Yes, as mentioned, our “Fixed column” feature is currently not available for the Simple table type in any way.

In regards to your existing table, unfortunately, there is no way to ‘transform/change’ one table type to another one, especially with the Simple table – this table type is unique in the way how its data is structured, stored in our Plugin’s WordPress database, etc…

You would have to create a new table, choose “Create a data table linked to an existing data source“, such as a CSV/Excel/JSON/XML or PHP array and then you can use the “Fixed Column” option on it.

The only ‘workaround’ you can try, is to copy the cell values from the Simple table and try to paste this into any kind of Spreadsheet, like Excel or CSV.
Then you can make a table linked from the Sheet and use the Fixed Column feature on it.

If you switch to the premium version of our Plugin, of course, in that case, you would have some additional table types, such as the Manual table type, which can be editable from our Plugin and has some exclusive features for easier editing, such as the Excel-Like Editor view, but we are not allowed to discuss anything about premium features here, so if you require more details on that subject, you can open a pre-purchase ticket on our Main support, they will be happy to advise.

    I hope that helps.

    Hello!

Ok I see, I tried the upload file-way but unfortunately I keep getting an error. I guess I just have to keep it like this. Seems a bit much to buy premium only for this reason. Thanks anyway ??

    Hello,
My sincere apologies for not seeing your reply sooner.
Thank you for all your patience.

Can you please elaborate on what kind of error seems to happen when you try to create a linked table from a file?

You can send us your source file, so we can try to reproduce the issue.
If it does not have any sensitive data, upload it to weTransfer and send a download link.

Or if it has sensitive data, you can open a PRIVATE ticket on our Main support here and we can take a closer look, if needed.
Just pick the pre-purchase category, and you won’t need to input any licence key.

    I hope that helps.
