Hello! We’ve created a categorized content for all our blog post on our webstite but whenever we click on it, we’re getting an error. After taking a closer look of WordPress support, it’s showing a critical error. This critical error only happens when you view a category, tag or the default blog page. All other pages on the website are perfectly fine, so it might be the theme template file for the Neve Theme.

[06-Feb-2025 21:23:51 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function do_location() on null in /srv/htdocs/wp-content/themes/neve/inc/compatibility/elementor.php:175

It seems to be related to the theme we’re using, “Neve.”

Since it’s a third party issue they’ve asked me to contact you. Our developer said that if you could provide us a purchase code, this might fix the issue?

I tried to search for the same issue on recent topics but failed to look for one. Hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance!

    Alex

  • Hi,

From what I’m able to see, it looks like your site is using a very old version of Neve, 2.10.2, while the current version is 4.0.1.

We are not able to provide support for older versions.

    Thank you!

Hello @rodicaelena , Thank you for your response. How can we be able to upgrade our theme version? Also, will this update break our website? Thank you!

    Hi,

You should see your update in your WordPress dashboard, as any other update.

And, no, it shouldn’t break your site, but of course I can’t guarantee that because I don’t know if you have any customizations done on your site. To be sure, you can create a backup of your site before performing the update, so you can rollback in case of any issues.

    Kind regards,
    Rodica

Thank you @rodicaelena for your response, Yes – we made some backups using Jetpack.

I have coordinated this with our web developer but he says that he didn’t see a place where we can update the core theme files for Neve in WordPress. Is there a chance you know this? Can you point me in the right direction?

    Thank you so much!

    Hi,

You can try manually updating the theme with the latest version from here https://www.ads-software.com/themes/neve/

    https://docs.themeisle.com/article/75-how-to-update-to-the-latest-version#replace

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards!

Hello @rodicaelena. We were able to update the Neve theme and the issue got fixed! You’re a gem. We wouldn’t know what caused this if it wasn’t for you. We just didn’t see the update option becasue we have to go through 4 differrent pages in order for us to know that it needs an update. It might be due to WP’s new update. Anyway the issue has been resolved. Thank you for help!

    Hi @wbb12345,

I’m glad I was able to help ??

If you have the time, and want to leave me a small review here https://www.ads-software.com/support/theme/neve/reviews/#new-post it would help me a lot.

    Thank you!
