    Hi,

I’m having trouble saving anything that I do in my wordpress blog (posts, pages or changes to custom.css and custom_functions in custom editor and widgets) that has either css or php code in it.

When I try to add code to a post for a button and I try to save the changes I get a 404 error page. The same goes for changes to pages, widgets and files in custom editor.

This literally means that I can’t make any changes to my blog.

    Please could someone help me?

    Thanks and Merry xmas!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    – increasing the memory available to PHP?

    Hi Esmi,

I had an email from someone at wordpress support who suggested I first of all find out from my hosting company if the problem is something they are able to straighten out.

Once I contaced them they immediately replied saying that the problem was the mod_security on their side that would not allow me to make changes to my wordpress blog.

My problem started after moving over to the newest version of WordPress so I guess the update caused this mod_security to work and prevent me from making changes.

Everything is ticking over like clockwork now and I’m able to make changes and add scripting and code as I please.

Thanks for taking the time to give some pointers as to what might have caused the problem, I’m sure others will be able to make use of the information you provided.
