    I’ve been assigned as the administrator of a website for a local organisation from two weeks ago. The organisation owned three versions of the same website, the only differences is the language used: a Traditional Chinese version, a Simplified Chinese and an English one. All three versions are meant to show the same information to the organisation’s members and visitors. For the last two weeks I focused on the Traditional Chinese one since the organisation didn’t request me to update the other two. Unfortunately once I updated a slide using the “Slider Revolution 6.2.12” in the English version, the front page of the English version went weird. Excluded the text in the menu / topic of the post and event, all the texts in the preview had weirdly changed from what I original published into “test test test test test test test”. Since all three version of the websites owned their very own dashboard, I wonder what went wrong.

    Image shown above shows the text in the preview section all got changed by the system from what it originally should be into “test test test test test test test”. I had got no idea what went wrong. Please send help ??

    As I can see this are the blog post grid. Can you send me a link of the website where you are seeing this stuff? Also, check if you have added anything in functions.php to override the text for the post excerpt or post content.

    Funny part is the previous website administrator sometimes just copy & paste the articles from the Chinese version directly rather than having them translated, so you’ll see there are Chinese in the site. But still, the main issue is, hmm, what I mentioned previously: All the text shown in the preview section got changed weirdly into “test test test test test test test” in which was completely not my own decision.

    So now you are translating the page content using multilingual plugin like WMPL etc correct?

    In the dashboard of the Traditional Chinese version (which I mentioned as it is the main site used for the organisation) I’ve found two plugins that are related to translation:

    1. Loco Translate
    2. Multisite Language Switcher

    In fact, from the beginning when I was assigned to handle & administrate the website two weeks ago, I rarely notice and practically use them. I just directly translate all the articles before publishing. Problem is I’ve got absolute no idea if my previous site administrator rely on them in a daily basis… May I ask why would the those translator will be a potential problem(s)?

    Side-note: I clicked into those “translators” and found out that none of them have “English” inside. The “Loco Translate” contains only Simplified Chinese, and the “Multisite Language Switcher” contains various languages (such as Japanese, Swedish and Turkish…etc.) BUT no English.

    It looks as if the “Multisite Language Switcher” https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/multisite-language-switcher/ enables cross-linking between content in various sites in a multisite network.

    There may be some functionality available that can assist you when editing content. It’s possible that you somehow added new content and/or accidentally translated the source instead of the localized copy. Or there may be some functionality that allows you to keep the original image or video if it doesn’t contain anything that needs to be translated.

    Since you’re using “Multisite Language Switcher” you need to figure out how this solution handles translation (or skipping translation) of images, etc.

    WordPress itself (WordPress core and also most plugins and themes) use US English as their original language.
    Loco Translate can help you translate things that are missing in your plugins and themes.

    As you can see in https://translate.www.ads-software.com/stats/ the #zh_HK team really can need more hands. The WordPress core is only 81% translated, for instance, and they’ve got over 10k strings waiting for approval.

    Thank you so much for the precious advice, but the problem is I don’t even know whether the source of issue I currently experiencing is from the translator(s) or from any other part of the website.

    One quick question for different translations are we using different WordPress installations?
    https://www.hkdf.org.hk/en/ is this separate WordPress installation?

    Regarding your latest inquires, I need to admit that I’m a newbie of using WordPress and I don’t quite understand the phrase “installation”, but if you mean “Add a new website” from the Master Dashboard then yes, the English version was “installed” in the beginning of December last year.

    Weird part is the Simplified Chinese version was added at the same day as the English version, but unlike the English version, even with some updates done from me the Simplified Chinese version didn’t have any data wipe off / edit by its own. (Well, maybe there are some own-editing in some inconspicuous spots, but at least not in the “Preview Section” at the front page like what I’ve been showing in the image above.)
