Can’t find where my browser tab text comes from

    All the solutions I’ve read say the my browser tab text of a WP site is contained in “Site Title”, which can be found via Appearance>Customize>Site Identity>Site Title. But that is empty on my site. Nevertheless, my browser tab text has a long string of descriptive text. I can’t figure out where that comes from so I can change it.

    Check it in the Settings => General once.

    Also, if you still not found this then check your header.php file. Or you may check in the edit page SEO section.

    I did check Settings > General and it’s also empty there. Please explain more about how to access/change the header.php file.

    Every HTML document has a page title. This is different from the “Site Title” which was introduced by Google and represents a name for the entire website.

    The page title is normally defined by the page called up. It is usually the title that is stored in the page. In your case, however, the title is apparently usually stored in the Yoast SEO plugin you are using.

    Example:
    Log in to the backend and then call up your homepage in the frontend. You should see an “Edit Page” button above it (not “Edit Site”, which edits the template). This will take you to the edit mode of the page. Here you should then see a section that comes from Yoast. And there, in turn, you should find an input field for the page title.

    You can adjust this page title separately on each individual page and each post. If it is not specified in the Yoast field, I believe the title stored for the page/post will be used.

    Thanks! I found it under SEO/Yoast and changed it as desired.
