When a PDF file is uploaded, some thumbnails are created in the same folder. but I can’t see these thumbnail in the WP media library. I really want to use these thumbnails to be the feature image of the post.

So How to add those thumbnail to WP media library? or other method to use these thumbnails as the feature image of the post?

    Thanks.

    Hello there,

The PDF Embedder plugin does not create thumbnails when a PDF file is uploaded on your site.

We do have a PDF Thumbnails plugin for that though, but those images are registered properly in WordPress Media library, and you can just pick them to be a featured image. More info is available in our docs.

If you don’t use PDF Thumbnails, you will need to consult with the authors of the plugin that generates those images.

You cannot pick a PDF file as a featured image of your post, because it’s not an image.

Are you sure that PDF Embedder plugin does not create thumbnails? I can’t believe it.

look at my upload folder, each PDF has 4 thumbnails with different size. and the PDF is uploaded by PDF Embedder plugin.

I’m 100% confident that the “PDF Embedder” plugin does NOT generate thumbnails.

The “PDF Thumbnails” plugin can do that though, and maybe some other 3rd-party plugins too.

You will need to check the list of active plugins on your site to identify which one does that.

All right, It’s not important now. I found another plugin Add-From-Server can import these thumbnails into media library. Problem solved. Thank you.
