• Hi guys, looking to move my web hosting to a new server, and my hosting guy has offered to move me to a new box with PHP5. I’ve seen just a few posts about some grouchiness with 1.2 and 1.3 with PHP5, and I just want to confirm the bugs have been ironed out in 1.5.

Same goes with plugins, I’m only using ScriptyGoddess’s NextPreviousCategory.

    Thanks!

  • I’d be curious to hear responses to this question as well, since I’m currently using 1.5 on PHP5. The problem I’m having is that it’s slower than it was under PHP4, to an insane degree. I haven’t gone digging as to why yet (could be MySQL, GD2, or who knows what). But, for whatever reason, page loads are exponentially slower than they were on the same server under PHP4. Everything seems to work OK beyond the slowness of things, though.

I’m using 1.5 on PHP5 and it runs fine, if not faster than when I was running PHP4. I’m running only 3 plugins (including Author Highlight, Del.icio.us Integrator, and Gravatar), but have tested it with more installed and it works fine for me.

    I’m using WP1.5 on PHP 5.0.4, Apache 2.0.53, and MySQL 4.1.11

So far, I have not had any problems.

guygg: What version of PHP5 are you using? There was an issue with some software running slow on it, but I believe it was resolved in the latest release (5.0.4).

I’m using WP 1.5.2 on Apache 1.3.33 and tried it with
both PHP 5.0.4 and php 5.1.0.rc.1 — and getting
seg faults (can’t even complete setup) I complete
the first step in Setup, and get the seg fault going
    to the second step.

    I would welcome any suggestions.
