If I use as you suggested it would still show only one post on the following page, still doesn’t solve the problem.

I haven’t set the number of posts displayed from the wp admin, I’ve done it via the following code:

<?php $paged = (get_query_var('paged')) ? get_query_var('paged') : 1; query_posts('posts_per_page=1&paged=' . $paged); if (have_posts()) : ?>
<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

Try:

<?php $paged = (get_query_var('paged')) ? get_query_var('paged') : 1;
if( is_home() || is_front_page() && !is_paged() ) query_posts('posts_per_page=1&paged=' . $paged);
if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

Still the same.

Try:

<?php $paged = (get_query_var('paged')) ? get_query_var('paged') : 1;
if( (is_home() || is_front_page() ) && !is_paged() ) $posts_per_page = 1;
else $posts_per_page = get_option('posts_per_page ');
query_posts('posts_per_page=' . $posts_per_page. '&paged=' . $paged);
if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

Hi,
I think I ran into another problem.
I have set wordpress to display 5 posts per page, now when I use the more posts link, it skips the five posts and display’s from the 6th post onward in the following page.

Is there a way I can see from the 2nd post onwards in the following page ?
