• Hello !
I have two hosting packages at bluehost and hostgator.
I have installed a WP blog at hostgator using Fantastico. Now I want to move its mysql database files to one of my directory at bluehost.
Can it be possible? How ?

If not, Can it be possible to install WP such that : all WP installation files should be on one hosting (say: bluehost) and mysql database on another hosting (say: hostgator)?
If this type of installation is possible, can it be done by Fantastico?

    Many thanks.

  • i dont think if it is possible, you need to have your database and wordpress on same host.

You can connect to BlueHost databases from your HostGator account. You will need to configure your wp-config.php on HostGator to connect to the BlueHost account by the box number. (Check the stats column in your cPanel to find that, it will be something like box381.bluehost.com).

You would need to also whitelist the HostGator IP address you will be connecting from. The Remote MySQL icon in your BlueHost cPanel will let you whitelist that IP address.
