Extract video content from post to display on front page

    I’m sure this is an easy one, but I can’t quite work-out how to do it. I am building a blog to display videos (Vimeo/YouTube). It has basic functionality. Standard blog posts with a video at the top and copy and a front page which acts a navigation for the posts. When the blog is published I want just the video to populate on the front page (where the navigation is basically a chronological hierarchy of videos – latest being “featured video”).

    I don’t mind whether the actual playable video or a thumbnail appears on the front page, but I was hoping to keep it simple as the person who will ultimately use the blog is not that technical. As a result I just want them to be able to put the embed code/shortcode in and then write copy.

    I hope this is clear. Any thoughts on how to do this?
